Cancer Care Services
Cancer treatment involves specialists working as a team to carry out the designed course of therapy. Cases are discussed at a monthly specialty cancer conference to optimize care. The hospital is a member of the Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC) and maintains a collaboration agreement with the American Cancer Society. The following are areas of service included in the cancer program: Diagnostic, Surgical, Radiation, and Medical Oncology Treatment, Cancer Support meetings, patient education and prevention programs, and community resources.
Clinical Trials are research studies that test how well new medical approaches work in people. Each study answers scientific questions and tries to find better ways to prevent, screen for, diagnose, or treat a disease. People who take part in cancer clinical trials have an opportunity to contribute to the knowledge of, and progress against cancer. They also receive up-to-date care from experts. – National Cancer Institute (NCI) 1-800-4-Cancer.
- Please note that eligibility for clinical trials is a highly selective process and dependent on each patient’s diagnosis for malignancy. Most patients are not candidates for protocols because their disease may not fit the criteria. If you think you may be a candidate for a scientific protocol, please discuss options with your Oncologist.
