Laughlin Memorial Hospital is an independent, not-for-profit hospital designed with patient care in mind.
With roots extending back to November 1939, when Dr. C.B. Laughlin converted a house into a small hospital naming it Laughlin Clinic and welcomed all physicians who wanted to practice there.
This open staff philosophy has contributed to the constant growth of the hospital. Over the years, Laughlin Memorial Hospital underwent many additions and much growth.
In early 1995, the doors opened to a new $26 million hospital facility. The new hospital is 40% larger than the original hospital and features all private rooms. New services included a radiation therapy department with state-of-the-art cancer treatment equipment and expanded outpatient services.
In 2001, the hospital completed a $12 million expansion program that included the new Laughlin Center for Women’s Health. The project also included the expansion of numerous clinical and support areas. And Laughlin Hospital is still growing!
A new $20 million construction project was completed in 2005 which will house, among other services, Greeneville’s first cardiac catherization Laboratory and an outpatient diagnostic center. The new addition will also house an expanded endoscopy unit and increased the hospital surgical suites to six (6) rooms.
A dedicated registration area for same-day surgery and other outpatient services is located in the new addition to expedite the admissions process for outpatients.
In addition three additional floors were included in the new addition which will be reserved as “shell space” for future hospital growth.
Also completed during this construction project was a third medical office building that was designed to house physicians of various medical specialties. Offices were constructed to allow re-locating physician to design their practices to compliment the services they provide.
Physicians currently located in these medical office buildings offer medical services which include: Dermatology, Ear, Nose and Throat, Family Medicine, Gastroenterology, Gynecology, Hematology, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics, Oncology, Oral Surgery, Pathology, Pediatrics, Pulmonary, Radiology, Urology, and Vascular Surgery. Also, space is currently available for new physicians wishing to re-locate to the Greeneville area.
Current medical specialty needs include Neurology, Urology and Orthopedics.
