Laughlin Healthcare Center, a Laughlin Memorial Hospital affiliate operates a ninety-bed Skilled Nursing Facility for patients who require nursing care or therapies, beyond hospitalization. The center is licensed by the state of Tennessee and is inspected annually by the Tennessee Department of Health. Patients admitted to LHC meet certain criteria such as IV antibiotics, physical therapy, diabetic teaching, medication management, pain control and others. Patients who are admitted to LHC referred to as residents, and a preparation for return-to-home environment is a major focus of care.
Laughlin Healthcare Center holds an interdepartmental meeting weekly to review the care of the current LHC residents. A team meeting is held with each resident and their family to address goals and plans for care, including financial matters. Each resident is assessed regarding the length of stay that may be needed.
Our emphasis is on rehabilitation and restoration. Services include daily physical, speech and occupational therapies (if needed). Nursing care is provided 24 hours a day by licensed nurses under the direction of an attending physician.
An activity director involves residents in enjoyable activities, crafts, special meals and other functions. Under the oversight of a certified dietary manager and registered dietician, each resident’s nutritional needs are evaluated with the focus on nutritionally satisfying meals.
The goal of Laughlin Healthcare Center is to get residents back to their pre-hospitalization level of activity, and self-care is encouraged. The physicians and our staff believe this emphasis is in the best interests and health of each resident.
