Speech and Language Pathology

The purpose of speech and language pathology is to assist patients in regaining effective speaking voice as well as functional communication skills and/or swallowing abilities. Some disorders, such as a stroke, can result in an inability to speak, understand speech, and even eat safely. Speech pathologists assist patients and families in improving communication abilities. They can also assess and help patients with swallowing disorders.
